BTS | A Few Questions with Meredith Mejerle

While The Anchorage is busy planning the food tasting and cocktail menu for our upcoming art talk with Meredith Mejerle, we wanted to give you a small taste of what we can expect to learn from Meredith at the event. Read on below to see a few quick answers to questions that she will go more in depth on in just a few weeks.

Donโ€™t forget to join Meredith for a ticketed artist meet and greet and artist talk on Thursday, June 26 from 5:00-6:30 PM! During the event, a signature cocktail will be served along with small bites, making for the perfect pairing of fine art and fine food. Visit Anchorage Tickets to purchase tickets for the event.

Q:  You work in multiple mediums including ink, watercolor, pastel, and acrylic. We hope youโ€™ll tell us more about your process at your art talk but, for now, can you tell us which medium is your favorite?

A: Pastels have become a surprising favorite of mine. I love their versatility. Being able to work on various surfaces and even using water to make them behave more like paint has been fun!

Q: You seem to really be drawn to painting the natural world. Do you have a favorite place to spend time outdoors?

A: Our backyard! When we moved into our home, we had a blank slate and no prior gardening experience. Itโ€™s been a place of trial and error, constant change, and continuous learning, but also one of growth (both literally and figuratively.).

Q: We love the pairing of an artist inspired cocktail and small bites. Do you have a favorite cocktail and what do you like to eat with it?

A: A Vesper and a Crudo

Q: Can you tell us a little bit about your inspiration for the series of work at The Anchorage?

A:This series is deeply inspired by emerging from winter and a period of creative pause. There's a vibrancy in these pieces that reflects the joy of rediscovering light and entering a new season.
